Acupuncture for fertility is an ancient alternative medicine treatment originating from china which is gradually gaining popularity in fertility treatments in western medicine. This treatment uses long hair thin needles that stimulate energy points. These energy points are believed to be very important in ones overall physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. It has been used widely for common ailments like the common cold and back pains.

Choosing acupuncture for fertility

There are many testimonials of women who have used acupuncture for fertility successfully. Needles are placed into specific parts of the body where they relate to the reproductive organs, improving energy flow to the reproductive system. Acupuncture is known to increase the amounts of endorphins that the brain releases.

This in turn reduces stress which is a major origin of infertility.

The effectiveness of acupuncture for infertility depends on the cause of the infertility. For example if the man’s sperm count is low, acupuncture will do very little for the woman. While on the other hand if the woman has a damaged uterus or fallopian tubes, acupuncture may not be helpful. However, in the earlier case where the man has a low sperm count, then acupuncture for fertility would be helpful. Acupuncturists recommend the use of other infertility treatments along with acupuncture. For example a woman may use acupuncture along with IVF.

Starting acupuncture treatment

Similar to physical therapy, acupuncture for fertility is a medical intervention method.

Patients can be treated about three to four months before conception through in vitro fertilization (IVF), donor egg transfer, or insemination. This early treatment is therapeutic and women are also encouraged to have acupuncture before and after embryo transfer. Treatment is recommended up to the twelfth week of pregnancy to avoid miscarriages which mostly occur within the first three months of pregnancy.

Acupuncture for fertility is used to treat different forms of infertility including spasmed tubes. It is often used with other herbal medications to treat, repeated pregnancy loss, elevated follicles stimulating hormone, idiopathic infertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome, luteal phase defect and other male factors including sperm DNA fragmentation.

Risks in acupuncture

Acupuncture for fertility has no known risks; however, miscarriage risks may be increased if the treatment is carried on for too long into the pregnancy. For this reason a woman who is considering acupuncture for fertility should seek a specialized fertility acupuncturist. Overall acupuncture has no contraindication.

How acupuncture enhances fertility:

Principles of oriental medicine dictate that a person’s health is largely determined by the quality of Qi which is the vital life energy and blood flowing through the body. When blood and Qi are circulating properly the body is well nourished and optimally functional which is fertility enhancing. It has been confirmed that acupuncture helps in the following areas:

Regulate menstrual cycle
Normalize endocrine and hormone systems.
Decreases chances of miscarriages
Regulates the menstrual cycle
Reduces anxiety and stress associated with infertility
Increases blood flow to the uterus
Increases pregnancy chances in women undergoing IVF.

How much does it cost

Many forms of fertility treatments can be expensive running into thousands of dollars and are typically not covered by most insurance plans. However acupuncture for fertility is relatively affordable ranging from a few hundred to about a thousand dollars.

Sadly, I had a miscarriage about 3 weeks ago..

I’ve had very sore breasts the last 3 days. And they’re either swollen or just getting bigger in those same 3 days.

Could that be because of the miscarriage even tho it was weeks ago? Or is it possible to already be pregnant again?

Best answer:

Answer by DaisyGirl
I am so sorry for you loss sweetie!

It depends.. Did you have a D and C? If YES, then you are very fertile after that procedure, so if you have had sex than there is a possibility you are pregnant again.

If not, typically it takes your body six weeks (on average) to return to it’s normal cycle after having a miscarriage. There is always that chance that you could get pregnant during that time frame. However, most women feel pregnancy like symptoms for about 3-4 weeks after miscarrying.

Question by : I’m supposed to get married tomorrow but I think I got another woman pregnant?
Okay I am in the most f***ed situation ever right now. I’m supposed to get married tomorrow and I might be expecting a child but not from my fiancée. We’ve been together for 6 years but the last year has been rough. We were always fighting over money and other things so 9 months ago we called it quits for what was thought to be for good. I moved out of our apartment and we didn’t talk for 8 months. I missed my fiancée bad. I called her all the time but she never called me back and was ignoring my texts and e-mails. She said that we needed to see other people because it seemed as though we were both getting tired of each other. I heard from several people that she began dating some guy like 6 months after we broke up. I tried to ask her, but she cut all communication with me so I said f*** it. I attempted to party my misery away and one night 2 months ago, I was feeling super depressed and I got so drunk, like as drunk as I’ve ever been. I woke up the next morning in “her” house. I knew I had made a horrible mistake, I mean I hooked up with some random chick and now its biting me in the a**. I didn’t want to be a total douche and give her the “I’ll call you” line knowing I won’t so I just gave her my number. That really made me realize how much I missed my girl but instead of being all “stalkerish” with her I sent her a heart felt e-mail telling her how much I missed her and how I finally understood why she needed space last month. We got back together after that and decided it was now or never (you know, marriage wise) and have been scrambling this whole month trying to put this together. This morning I get a text that says “I’m pregnant.” I call the number and its “her.” I couldn’t believe it. She says that she is sure its my baby because she hasn’t slept with anyone else in about 5 months. I feel so stupid. Now I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried calling my fiancée all day but she and her family members thought it would be cute if we didn’t talk or see each other again until the wedding. What the hell am I supposed to do? I can’t go through with this! HELP!
How is standing her up “acting like an adult”? Contradiction much.
Wait let’s clam down here! I NEVER said I would walk away from my kid, I’m not that type of person. If she is carrying my child, that child will have a great father. I will step up and take responsibility. My problem is how do I tell my fiancée.

Best answer:

Answer by Bri Vance
Dude first dont worry bout it u was broke up. If u dont tell her thn its gonna kill u on the inside so tell her face to face. Then support tht child like ur suppose to b a man like u was whn u got so drunk. Ur girl prolly did it with some other guy anyways. Maybe u shouldnt get married God could b saying the other u got knocked up could b the love of ur life. Pray and ask God and belive he will help and u shall have the right answer not an internet answer neither. GOD BLESS

Ovulation occurs as the release of a single, mature egg that comes from a follicle that has developed in the ovary. It usually happens around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. The egg is then capable of being fertilized for the next 12 to 48 hours before it starts to disintegrate. Although there are several days each month during which a woman is fertile, the most fertile is during the days around ovulation. Having sex at least on alternate days during that week gives you a very good chance of getting pregnant.

If you are trying to conceive, then predicting your ovulation cycle can greatly increase your chances of getting pregnant. The most simple method of predicting ovulation involves just counting days.

When using the counting days method, to pin point ovulation, the first day of your period, when you start bleeding, is normally 14 days after your ovulation.

If you have regular cycles, then this method can work well for you.

Sometimes, a more natural method involves being aware of the physical symptoms, which deal with ovulation. These are such things as basal body temperature, cervical mucus changes and others like lower abdominal pains, which are all symptoms of ovulation. The body temperature chart is a daily recording of body temperature, which is an indicator of ovulation (body temperature will rise after ovulation). Cervical mucus monitoring involves examining the mucus that is secreted from the cervix, which enables you to predict the time of ovulation.

The Basal Body Temperature method shows when you are ovulating by you keeping a record of where you are in your menstrual cycle. The Basal Body Temperature chart records the change in temperature that occurs after ovulation. It cannot predict when ovulation will occur in a given cycle, but by looking at records from a few cycles you can notice a pattern from which ovulation can be estimated.

You can download free blank Basal Body Temperature charts from many websites-just do a Google search.

A BBT chart provides a good visual basis for determining ovulation:

* Make sure that day one on the chart is the first day of menstruation.

* Every morning, before getting out of bed or going to the bathroom, take your temperature. The use of special basal body thermometers is highly recommended for accurate results. Also, the same thermometer should be used every time.

* Make note of any lack of sleep, drinking alcohol, fever, illness, or emotional stress. It is also helpful to describe the condition of any mucus or discharge.

Cervical Mucus Monitoring

The presence and consistency of your cervical mucus undergoes a number of changes during your menstrual cycle. By watching for changes in cervical fluid, you can predict ovulation, and thus know your most fertile time for conceiving a baby.

Using clean fingers, or toilet paper, examine your cervical fluid. Prior to ovulation, during non-fertile periods, you will experience more dryness (or lack of cervical mucus). Gradually, as you get nearer to ovulation, the cervical mucus will increase, though the consistency will be “sticky” and the color will be white, yellow, or cloudy in nature.

Directly prior to ovulation, cervical fluid will increase greatly, and now the mucus will be semi-transparent, slippery, with the consistency of “raw egg white”. This is your most fertile period and ovulation will take place at about this time.

If you find that your cervical mucus is not reaching the “raw egg white” stage, you may want to try a lubricant like Pre-Seed. Pre-Seed is the only truly sperm friendly lubricant currently on the market at this time, and many people have found success in getting pregnant while using it.

Its my first time checking my LH surge. As far as I know LH surge should show prior ovulation. I have 31-32days cycle. I just started checking my LH surge on my day14 to 19. On day14 to 18, it showed on the predictor results of 2 lines. The Control line is similar color to the Test line but its a thin line only unlike the Control which is a bit thicker. Does is mean that its a positive sign that I had the LH surge on those days? How long should the LH surge stays in our body? On the day19, i got only 1 line which is definitely negative sign. Thanks in advance for your answers to this question.

Best answer:

Answer by JayneDoe
USUALLY the LH surge only shows up for one day… i would report such elevations of multiple days to your physician… that’s not right.

once you get a positive result (yes, 2 lines) you will ovulate within 48 hours. ANY TIME within the 48 hrs!

Question by Katie W: What could case me to never to get a positive read on an ovulation predictor ?
I having been using the once a day ovulation predictor for a week now. I have never got a positive result. I started last Tuesday once a day and since Sunday I have been testing twice a day and still nothing. I am a thirty day cycle and today is day 18. I spoke with my ob-gyn and she said that this can happen sometimes even though you are ovulating. Has this happen to anyone else, who went on to have a successful pregnancy?

Best answer:

Answer by sarah jane
If you’re not getting a read on OPK’s, I would recommend that you trying charting your BBT. It’s a lot more accurate. There are several things that could prevent you from getting a read on an OPK: You could be missing your surge (if you surge at night but test in the morning you can miss it), you might not be ovulating, or the hormone levels in your urine might not be high enough.

Charting is the best and most accurate way to go. Go to www.fertilityfriend.com to learn about it.

Answer by Rebekah
I took my temp every morning for months and had it down pat when I thought I was ovulating. I ended up getting pregnant in a month that I was certain we hadn’t ‘done it’ in the right window. Just have a lot of sex.

Answer by imtaken1997
Honestly Smoking and stress can both be a factor if you smoke both of you should stop if your both under stress (which u probably are worrying about infertility) then try to relax!
